Seven Years of Signify

Team pictures from the last seven years of Signify

To celebrate seven years of Signify, we thought we would highlight our Managing Partners, Beth Sherman and Nathan Palmer to ask them about the past seven years, and what is in store for the future…

Q: What’s one piece of advice you’d give yourselves if you could rewind to day one of starting the agency?

NP: Not always easy, but try and go with the flow more and accept the lack of control. There are huge highs and low lows when running a business and learning to accept these “big” changes and be more balanced is definitely a skill I have had to develop.

BS: To be confident in our instincts from day one and to be bold in leading. When you get started imposter syndrome can creep in, but being hired as an agency means you are being hired for your expert opinion – so trust it!

Q: What’s your best memory from the last seven years of Signify?

NP: Signify’ s first ever trip abroad to Paris during covid. A bizarre time filled with outrageous laughs.

BS: There was a ridiculous social post with someone hiding in a box – I try to forget that one! But every single team social whether it’s a strategy day, monopoly deal marathon or quiz is so much fun.

Q: How has the agency’s culture evolved, and what makes it special today?

NP: Really strong communication and just overall great people. A real feeling of a true team working together rather than an overly structured hierarchy that takes its self too seriously.

BS: Working with great people is everything and our team are amazing. I don’t think the culture has changed because its something we have always invested it, we enjoy the work, motivate each other, celebrate success and share ideas and work to solve challenges.

Q: Who would play you in the movie adaptation of Signify?

NP: Theo James or Paul Rudd

BS: Haha omg, no idea. Someone short and blond and busy and occasionally pregnant.

Q: What’s been the most rewarding part of leading Signify Digital over these seven years?

NP: Seeing the business build as well as our members of staff and how they develop both personally and professionally. Also our clients, seeing their businesses surge with help from our marketing efforts is also extremely rewarding.

BS: For me it’s the people we have met and connected with along the way, whether its clients, partner agencies, freelancers, team members. Also the freedom we have had to create a company that we want to work for. The team trips are amazing but also the day to day.

Q: Looking ahead, what are your hopes for the agency in the next seven years?

NP: Slow but steady growth that is intentional. Learning lessons along the way, doing great work and keeping pace with the ever changing market. Continuing to hire well and bring great people into the business. Nothing flashy just consistent progress.

BS: To keep growing, to keep enjoying it and to keep innovating. The platforms we work across have already changed so much since we started I’m excited to see what the next few years bring.

What a great seven years of Signify! Here’s to the next seven…
